5-Day Camino Francés Itinerary from Sarria

Prepare for an unforgettable journey along the last 115 km of the Camino Francés, one of the most iconic pilgrimage routes in the world. We will walk from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela, experiencing Galicia’s stone villages, lush countryside, and the magic of arriving on foot to Santiago. All accommodations along the route are in comfortable twin rooms, ensuring rest and relaxation after each day’s walk.

Day 1: Sarria → Portomarín

Distance: 22.2 km
Walking time: around 6–7 hours

What to expect:
Quiet country lanes, shaded forest paths, charming Galician hamlets, stone walls and farms. A beautiful final descent to the Miño River and entrance to Portomarín.

Day 2: Portomarín → Palas de Rei

Distance: 24.8 km
Walking time: around 6–7 hours

What to expect:
Gentle climb out of Portomarín, open countryside, traditional farms, pine forests, and plenty of cafés to rest and collect your pilgrim stamps.

Day 3: Palas de Rei → Arzúa

Distance: 28.5 km
Walking time: around 7.5–8 hours

What to expect:
The longest and one of the most scenic stages: lush forests, rolling hills, wooden bridges, and rural chapels. Stop in Melide to try the famous “pulpo a la gallega”, then continue through eucalyptus woods to Arzúa.

Day 4: Arzúa → O Pedrouzo

Distance: 19.3 km
Walking time: around 5–6 hours

What to expect:
A shorter and gentler stage through eucalyptus and oak forests. A relaxing day to arrive early in O Pedrouzo, rest, and prepare for the grand finale.

Day 5: O Pedrouzo → Santiago de Compostela

Distance: 19.4 km
Walking time: around 5–6 hours

What to expect:
The final stage of your pilgrimage. Walk through peaceful forests and villages before reaching Monte do Gozo, where pilgrims see the cathedral towers for the first time. Emotional arrival at the Praza do Obradoiro.

Enjoy free time to explore Santiago, visit the cathedral, and collect your Compostela.
