Club Rules

A few simple rules keep every walk safe, friendly and welcoming for everyone — whatever your age, level or background. Here's how we do things.

Joining & membership

• Membership fees: the committee sets an annual subscription fee for membership.
• Joining the club: new members are welcomed at the discretion of the committee.
• Making decisions: we aim for consensus and, if needed, decide by a simple majority vote — easy and fair.

Safety on the trail

• Health first: if you have a medical condition or take medication that could affect your ability to hike safely, please check with your doctor and let the hike leader know before you set off.
• Every hike has a leader: if the designated leader can't make it, the group chooses one before starting.
• The leader's call: the leader may change the route when needed for safety or other reasons — they've got your back.
• Stay with the group: if you choose to leave the group on your own, you're officially off the hike. Stay safe out there.
• Dress for the trail: proper footwear and clothing are essential. The leader may ask anyone who isn't properly equipped to sit a hike out.

Being part of the community

• Be kind: treat everyone with respect and courtesy. We're all here to enjoy the day.
• Hike schedule: we share our hike plans in advance so everyone can get ready.
• Carpooling: share a ride when you can — it's better for the environment and eases congestion at the trailhead. A small contribution towards costs is encouraged.
• Pets welcome: your furry friends are welcome, as long as you're fully responsible for their behaviour.
• Meetings: we keep meetings short and sweet — starting on time and wrapping up within the hour.

Good to know

• Photography & video: we take photos and videos at events to document and promote the club. By taking part, you consent to their use in our promotional materials, social media and website. If you'd prefer not to be photographed or filmed, just let us know beforehand.
