Start your week with us on Monday 30 June 2025 as we explore a truly unique walk from Blackheath to Canary Wharf, passing through the iconic Greenwich Park and crossing under the Thames via a historic foot tunnel!
We’ll meet at Blackheath Station at 10:30 am and set off on a scenic and cultural route of around 12 km (7.5 miles). This is an easy walk (rated 1 out of 10 in difficulty), but packed with stories, views and discoveries.
We begin with the elegant streets of Blackheath Park and the wide open space of Blackheath itself – a place once filled with rebels, highwaymen, and royal history. From there, we enter Greenwich Park, one of London’s most beautiful green spaces, home to the Royal Observatory, the Prime Meridian, and panoramic views over London.
We'll stroll past the Rose Garden, Ranger's House, and through the Flower Garden, reaching viewpoints like One Tree Hill before exiting towards a nearby pub for lunch (optional but recommended!).
After lunch, we dive into the architectural gems of Maritime Greenwich – including the Queen’s House, National Maritime Museum, the Painted Hall and Cutty Sark. Most of these places are free to enter, and you're welcome to explore them at your own pace or continue with the group.
Then comes a fun surprise: we cross the Thames through the Greenwich Foot Tunnel, emerging on the Isle of Dogs. The riverside path offers a fascinating contrast of old Docklands history and modern skyline, before finishing the walk at Canary Wharf, where you can grab a drink, bite, or simply chill surrounded by striking architecture and public art.
Duration: 2 hours 35 mins walking time, but allow up to 7 hours if you want to enjoy the museums and lunch with us.
Level: Easy – good shoes, water and a curious spirit are all you need.
End Point: Canary Wharf – with access to DLR, Jubilee and Elizabeth lines.
Bring your camera, your sense of adventure, and your love for London’s hidden gems. Let’s make Monday feel like a mini holiday!
