Mullerthal Trail: Hiking and Culture in Luxembourg

Are you looking for a short getaway that combines scenic hiking routes, local traditions, and delicious food? At Hiking in London, we’ve found the perfect 4-day adventure in the Mullerthal Trail, also called the Little Switzerland of Luxembourg.

What is the Mullerthal Trail?

This award-winning trail network spans 112 km in northeastern Luxembourg and is divided into three circular routes. We recommend focusing on Route 2 (38 km), which passes through Echternach, Berdorf, and Consdorf. Expect dramatic rock formations, deep forests, caves, and gorges that feel like a fairy tale.

Recommended Itinerary (4 days / 3 nights)

  • Day 1: Arrival in Echternach, stroll through the old town, and enjoy a traditional dinner.
  • Day 2: Hike from Echternach to Berdorf (19 km) through scenic forests and cliffs. Overnight in Berdorf.
  • Day 3: Hike from Berdorf to Consdorf and back to Echternach (19 km), with a stop at the famous Hohllay Cave.
  • Day 4: Visit the local market and return to London.
