Parliament Hill: The Summit Every Spartan Must Conquer
Parliament Hill is one of those classic routes that never disappoint. Whether you're new to the club or a long-time hiker, this north London gem is almost a rite of passage. Something special always happens when we hike there — the group bonds, the laughs come easy, and London reveals itself from a viewpoint that never fails to impress.
A Bit of History
Parliament Hill is part of Hampstead Heath, one of the largest and wildest parks in London. Its name dates back to the 17th century, when Cromwell’s supporters supposedly gathered there to watch over Parliament — and legend has it they even planned to bomb it from the hill. These days, the only thing blowing up is your camera roll with skyline shots!
This hill has inspired poets and artists for centuries. And in the rare London snow, it becomes an unofficial sledding slope for locals.

Why We Keep Coming Back
This route is a perfect mix of nature, city views and community. You'll find ancient trees, playful squirrels, peaceful ponds, and grassy hills. And when we reach the top, there’s a moment of silence where everyone just takes in the panoramic view of London.
Sometimes we catch the sunset – the sky turns pink and gold, and there we are, surrounded by Spartans, knowing this is exactly where we’re meant to be.
And of course, we usually end the walk with a hot drink or pint at one of the charming pubs or cafés in Hampstead.
Spartan Tip
Wear comfortable shoes, bring a light jacket for the breeze at the top, and if you can, pack a small snack or treat to share — there’s always someone who brings fruit, cookies, or even homemade cake. And don’t forget your camera – Parliament Hill is made for epic skyline photos.
