Known as "La Garganta Divina" (The Divine Gorge), this is the most iconic route in the Picos de Europa. The trail runs along a narrow gorge, following the Cares River through tunnels and cliffside paths. It’s linear, so you may need transport for the return. The views are absolutely stunning.

2. Covadonga Lakes (Circular Route)

This circular hike is perfect for families. It takes you around the Enol and Ercina lakes, located over 1,000 meters above sea level. Meadows, peaks, and shimmering waters make for a scenic experience. There are longer variants leading to the Entrelagos Viewpoint or the Pedro Pidal Visitor Centre.

3. Ascent to Naranjo de Bulnes (Picu Urriellu)

Difficulty: High
Distance: 13 km round trip
Duration: 6 to 7 hours

This trail leads to the base of the Naranjo de Bulnes, a legendary limestone peak and a symbol of Spanish mountaineering. The summit is only for climbers, but hiking to the Vega Urriellu refuge offers epic views and the feeling of real high-altitude terrain.

4. Sotres – Áliva Refuge – Espinama

Difficulty: Medium
Distance: 20 km
Duration: 6 to 8 hours

This linear hike is ideal for experienced trekkers. Starting in Sotres, it crosses the beautiful Áliva valley and finishes in Espinama, Cantabria. Expect alpine pastures, glacial valleys, and a peaceful mountain vibe throughout the journey.

5. Horcados Rojos Loop from Fuente Dé

Difficulty: Medium
Distance: 8 km
Duration: 4 hours
