Frequently Asked Questions about the Camino de Santiago

What is the best time to do the Camino de Santiago?

The Camino de Santiago can be started on any day of the year. However, it’s important to consider the weather and the season to ensure you pack appropriate clothing for your journey.

How do I get to my starting point on the Camino?

The best way is to arrive at the airport, train station, or bus station closest to your starting town. Once your trip is confirmed, simply send us your arrival information, and we will organize a private transfer to your starting point.

Can I travel alone?

Yes, all routes are suitable for solo pilgrims. If you wish to stay in a single room, we can arrange it at an additional cost. Solo travellers often meet others on the trail, and the routes are well-signposted, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.

Will I have an accompanying guide?

Most routes are self-guided, allowing you to walk at your own pace with a detailed route itinerary provided in advance. For the popular stretch from Sarria to Santiago, we offer guided group options on specific dates, led by professional guides who speak English and Spanish.

What does the complete route itinerary include?

The complete route itinerary contains detailed maps, route profiles, points of interest, and reference times and distances for each stage of your journey. This document will help you plan and navigate each day of the Camino.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking as early as possible to ensure availability in the best accommodations, especially during high season or on dates of religious or cultural interest.

What should I pack?

We suggest packing lightweight, quick-drying clothing, a waterproof jacket, sun protection, and suitable hiking shoes. Remember, we provide a baggage transfer service, so you can travel light with just a small daypack.

How does the baggage transfer service work?

Each morning, leave your luggage at the reception of your accommodation by 8:00 a.m.. It will be delivered to your next accommodation, usually before 4:00 p.m..

Should I take out travel insurance?

We highly recommend having travel assistance insurance and cancellation insurance to cover any unexpected situations during your journey.

What type of accommodation is provided?

We book hotels, traditional homes, and country cottages, always ensuring private rooms with a private bathroom for your comfort. Accommodations are typically located close to the Camino route for convenience.
