Lobuche Peak Climbing in Nepal

Nestled at an elevation of 6119 meters in the Everest Khumbu Himalayan range, Lobuche East Peak is a popular climbing destination in Nepal. This attractive summit provides several routes for climbing, with the normal route through the south ridge. Lobuche East Peak comprises several smaller summits, and reaching the true peak involves climbing steep snow and ice slopes from the summit ridge.

Our professionally crafted itinerary takes you to Everest Base Camp, Kala Patthar, and then to Lobuche Peak. This plan provides ample opportunities for acclimatization. From Everest Base Camp, we ascend to Lobuche Base Camp, located at a height of 4950 meters near a lake in a rocky hollow at the base of the glaciated southwest face. From here, we enjoy superb views of Amadablam, Cholaste, Thamserku, Kantega Peak, and Tawache Peak. The climb involves navigating steep stone terraces and snow slopes just below the main glacier on the south-west face of Lobuche East.

If we trek a few hundred vertical feet during the day, it will help us to properly acclimatize. Your guides will take us to the Tourist Visitor Center near the headquarter of the Sagarmatha National Park where we can observe an assortment of things related to the first Everest ascenders, Sherpa culture and learn about the various plant and animal life of the Everest region. 8. DAY: DAY TRIP ACCLIMATIZATION Today is an essential day as it is the second and last acclimatization day of the trek (you may remember the first of which was at Namche Bazaar). As we did the previous time, we will use the day to reach a higher altitude and then return to Dingboche to spend the night. One famous saying in high-altitude mountaineering is “Climb high, sleeplow”, which means it is wise, and sometimes even essential (while ascending more than 305m 1,000ft at an altitude of above 3,050m /10,000 ft) to sleep at a lower altitude than the highest point reached during the day. This is the first step of our acclimatization hike, the Nangkartshang Hermitage, where many trekkers choose to stop. Given that we are always looking for more exceptional views and that we are feeling relatively well overall, we decide to push on and reach the summit. Overnight at guest house Include meal B/L/D.
  9. DAY: TREK FROM DINGBOCHE TO LABUCHE (4890M) 6-7 HRS O/N AT LODGE. From Dingbouche the trail follows through farmlands and meadows before continuing along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier then you will reach at Dughla (4620m) after that continues rocky steeply climb uphill to Dughla Pass (4830m) from whereas you can see the lots of stone memorials of climbers who have perished on nearby summits. You can see magnificent views including Mt. Ama dablam (6856m), Thamserku (6623m), Kangtega (6783m), Cholaste (6335m), Lobuche east (6090m), Pumori (7165m), Lingtren (6713m), Khumbutse (6639m)and Nuptse (7879m) etc. Beyond the Dughla Pass the trail gently climb up and drops a bit then continue level walk to Loboche (4910m). Overnight at guest house Include meal B/L/D.
  10. DAY: TREK FROM LABUCHE TO EVEREST BASE CAMP (5365M) THEN BACK TO GOREKSHEP (5160M) 8-9 HRS O/N AT LODGE. 16,961ft] – Everest Base Camp [5364 m/17,594 ft] – Gorak Shep: 8 – 9 hrs The trail to Gorak Shep goes ahead through the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. We pass through the pyramid sign post. Ahead on the trail we see crest of north ridge of Everest along with Mt. Pumori, Mt. Mahalangur, Mt. Lingtern, Mt. Khumbutse, Mt. Nuptse, etc. A small ascent would take us to Thangma Riju from where we perceive 360 degree vista of snowy mountains. Climbing steeply up to the top through the torrent of Changri Glacier, we catch our first glimpse of Kala Patthar, a grey-green knoll beneath the Mt. Pumori. As we reach Gorak Shep, we will find snow-capped mountains looming all around us including the top of the world – Mt. Everest. After a brief lunch and rest, we take the trail to Everest Base Camp through the once vast Gorak Shep Lake. Continuing straight ahead, we come through the Indian army mountaineers’ memorials. Only upon reaching the Everest Base Camp do we really appreciate the Everest climbers who brave the hazardous route through the Khumbu icefall. Mountaineer’s tents stand out in bright colors against the monotony of gray surroundings (especially in the Spring). Nuptse, Khumbuste and Pumori are the mountains we can view from the base camp. Everest actually is not visible from here. By now we have met the ultimate objective of our trip. However, the sunset view from Kala Patthar is more admirable than the sunrise view, so it is suggested to visit Kala Patthar today during sunset. As the setting sun’s rays strike the snowcapped mountains the resulting scenery is indescribable. For those trekkers who wish to continue to Kala Patthar, our guides and Sherpas coordinate in hiking to Kala Patthar for amazing sunset view today rather than waiting until the next day. Overnight at Tea house meal B/L/D.
  11. DAY: EARLY MORNING HIKE KALAPATHER (5555M) THEN BACK TO LABUCHE (4890M)6-7 HRS O/N AT LODGE. We start early in the morning to catch the dramatic views from Kala Patthar witnessing the first light of day shining on Mt. Everest. However, we need to get prepared for an early morning, dark and cold temperature (-10 to -14 C) departure beforehand. Further, there is always the potential of chilly winds which are quite common. Familiar peaks such as Lingtren, Khumbutse, Changtse tower to the east even as Everest begins to reveal itself emerging between the west shoulder crest and Nuptse. During the ascent to Kala Patthar we can pause to catch our breath at several outstanding viewpoints to snap pictures. After several hours of ascent, we will be Kala Patthar. From this juncture, we scramble to climb the rocky outcrop near to the summit marked by cairns and prayer flags. As we reach the top, we sit on the Kala Patthar where our eyes rook taking in the unbelievable Himalayan Panorama, wandering from one mighty massif to another. We take as many pictures as we can and take the in view with our mind’s eye to last lifetime. Shared washing and toilet facilities are common in some locations.

Health and Experience Requirements

This expedition is a challenging endeavor requiring a minimum of 6-7 hours of walking daily. In some instances, we may need to walk for more extended periods. This high-altitude trek demands excellent physical condition, above-average fitness, and prior hiking experience. Positive attitude, self-confidence, and strong determination are vital for a successful expedition. Regular exercising and jogging for some weeks before the trip are recommended to improve strength and stability.

Travel Insurance

Comprehensive travel insurance is a mandatory requirement for all participants to cover potential medical issues or accidents, including air ambulance, helicopter rescue, and treatment costs. Please note that we do not arrange or sell insurance.

Acclimatization

This expedition is meticulously planned to counter AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness), which could potentially be life-threatening if not managed properly.
